"Mata Leao" has the honour of being the first Brazilian jiu jitsu club in Montenegro. Founded in Jully 2006 in Podgorica, by two, at the time, Bjj blue belts, Mladen Jokmanovic and Marko Jokmanovic- judo and traditional ju jitsu black belts and sucessfull competitors.
For now “Mata Leao“ is the only BJJ team in Montenegro having international results and results at the world championships.
Despite the dificulties, at the beginning, with finding the suitable gym in order to train specificaly BJJ the members of “Mata Leao“ have shown a great potential.
For “Mata Leao“ second birthday, at the Belgrade International Submission Wrestling Tourtnament Marko Jokmanovic won the gold medal and the first place.
By doing that our member made won the first gold medal i BJJ NO GI, along with the silver one of Mladen Jokmanovic from Montenegro Superfight in GI version.
At the World Grappling Championship Marko Jokmanovic won fourth place in - 70 GI division and finished fifth in two categories, NO GI -70 KG and Absolute category.
Brazilian jiu jitsu team " Mata Leao" offers a modern fussion of BJJ (as primary art) mixed with our previous experiences in Judo, Sambo and sport ju jitsu.
Our goal is a complete grappler and BJJ fighter. By taking the best from every separate sport we tend to provide our students with the form that suits them the best.
From 2011, Mata Leao became Rio Grappling Montenegro, as a part of RIO GRAPPLING CLUB network under Master Roberto Atalla, 3rd degree black belt and tripple world champion.
